Have you ever noticed how we stick our foot in our mouths most of the time? Not out of malicious intent or rudeness, but sometimes just because we speak without thinking. I do this frequently. I mean no harm, but it leaves me at a loss and embarrassed at times.
It's not quite as bad when you are around your family, however, my family NEVER lets me live them down. I call it my BLURTS. Mine are not usually offensive, they are just silly words that come out when I'm speaking too fast.
A favorite BLURT occurred when Kaylei was just a wee little thing. I had made some Banana Nut Muffins, and I yelled to Chad, "Hey, babe, you want a Rut-Nut-Muffin?" I thought he was going to bust a gut laughing.
Later came "She ates za top off!" when Kate ate only the tops off her bagel bites. Shortly to be followed by, "You poked me bo-bo!" when Chad leaned down to kiss me and his whiskers scratched me. There are many more, but these seem to be the most popular.
This past Christmas, my dear family included all of my BLURTS into a endearing rendition of Feliz Navidad. We had a lot of fun....at my expense. I hope you liked my BLURTS. There will be many more to come. I'm quite certain of this!!
Laughter is the BEST medicine. Take the time to laugh at yourself once in a while!
